Kult 2006 (Freeride/Wave)

2006 KultThe Kult 2006 has again had a radical overhaul.

It has been the choice of many wave sailors who enjoyed it's awesome range and power for light wind onshore performance.

This year it moves nearer again to wave sail construction.

New for 2006:

  • 's' leach and rounded head for better dynamics.
  • Kevlar cloth in the clew area to withstand falls
  • More reo in the windo area
  • Moulded foot protector.

What riders say about the Kult:

Jonathan Ruffus, New England, USA:
I have the Kult and Kaos....from 4.2 through 7.0, and WOW is the word, they kick ass hard! And I am not just saying that to fit in as a team rider. The first time I rode them, the wind was moderate but they were so punchy, I was concerned they would over power...but NO, man, they are so stable it is FREAKY....whatever you did you did it right. You must ahve put the magic elixir in the sails. They blow away the Sailoworks and Hot sails I was on without a doubt..People are noticing them, so I think soon KA will take over the world.

Mark Stone, Australia:
What a week, good wind and waves, bodies sore and the 5.3 kult is going off, made the ezzys feel baggy and slow, these are more wing like, and the big clear window gave me heaps of confidence pushing the bottom turn, like a wide screen tv, where before l was trying to look around the front of the mast. Really good feedback on the beach. It gets better, today very light 6 to 15 knots, my 5.8 kult on my 235 fish which got 3rd in the elite wave last weekend with 90 kilo andrew lang on it in mast high waves , who won the king of the point, went straight passed every go fast board on the water, and l could wave ride too. No exaggeration, l believe l was planing down to 8 knots, and when l came in l was surrounded, to good to be true.

Kristian Sexton, Hawaii:
I have to admit that I was cursing Andrew pretty badly as I sat at the lookout over Diamond Head with Darrell. We had to get some photos of the Kult and it was blowing a solid 20-25 knots side offshore with logo to mast high sets. This would have been perfect if that damn Aussie had sent me a 4.7 or even a 5.3, but no the only sail I had was a 5.8. I rigged it very flat and hoped for the best. Everyone else was on 4.7s and 5.0s. Scott McKercher had just come in to flatten out his 5.0. Amazinly the sail worked fine and I was able to handle it without too many problems. It was not ideal, but obviously has incredible range and the people who laughed at me as I was rigging had to be impressed with the fact that not only was I not being blown off the water, but was actually sailing well and in control. Have used the sail since in a variety of conditions and am continually impressed. I am easily the first one planing with my 84 liter Goya under me and am still in complete control in the gusts and able to turn on the waves as if I were on a 5.3 or 5.0. Still able to go right at the lip and am in such control that I forget I am on such a big sail. Those damn Aussies sure seem to know how to make good sails. The construction of this years Kult also seems much stronger and better suited to handleing real surf than last years.

(Ed - We asked for this feedback, and yes, Kris is a KA man; but Kris will not talk up anything he does not like, so we take this as very high praise!)

Günter Lorch, Germany:
Today I could test Kult 7.0 with normal mast lorch 460 100% . Sail works really perfekt. Before I tested with a skinny 450 cm (no lorch), I think skinny was to soft for big sail. Sail is planing superfast with my 90kg and perfekt handling and also superligth I like it also rotation was very good with our 460 normal diametermast. My 5.8 Kult Xply I used a lot, its very strong. I think its a good material.
