Koncepts impress again...
New KA Ambassador Alex Bennett-Baggs is very impressed by his new Koncepts. here is what he has to say plus some photographs by his Girlfriend Clair Perkins
Hi there, I'm on your ambassador programme and recently bought the koncept 6.6/5.8
I met Peter at hayling island last month and did some rigging with him, I didn't get chance to put the sails on the water but on dry land I knew the felt great. A couple of weeks ago I got the chance to test them with the new CA speed boards sp50/44 the forecast was a solid 25mph+...unfortunately the wind never got that strong but I only took the speedboards and koncepts, on the day the local speedsters were on 100-130ltr boards 7m+ sails so I was a little apprehensive to take out new small kit! the biggest I had was the sp50 6.6 and lw/mcd 23 so didn't expect to get planing..when I got 30mts out straight in the straps and planning, couldn't believe it! nor could some of the onlookers (i tryed to launch round the corner out of sight..but got clocked!) the 6.6 is so easy to sail off the plane its a joy so light in the hands, when the wind comes it just smoothly accelerates when the gusts hit it absorbs the power efficiently not brutally, water starting? I cant believe how easy it is to fly the rig out the water! the cams will rotate in the water, one push then its up! personally i feel my old kit has held me back for a long time! I could never sail that time water starting as much as I did!
On one hand I was disappointed the wind didn't kick in on the other i spent 7hrs!! cruising enjoying every minute.
No big speeds recorded but did get some good shots the girlfriend took, (clair perkins) which i have enclosed.
Cheers alex bennett-baggs
