Kellie wins at Burrum...
KA Ambassador – Kellie Tusler wins the annual KA Sail / Caloundra Wind & Surf Speed Challenge at Burrum Heads Qld, which was held over the weekend of 28/29 March 2009.
The annual KA Sail Caloundra Wind & Surf Speed Challenge saw competitors from around Australia descend on Burrum Heads to fight it out for the title "fastest windsurfer" and vie for a slice of the $4000 prize pool.
With 2 days of competition set aside, the most favourable conditions along the course were produced on day one, Enabling Brisbane's Michel Van der Pligt to log a top speed of 37.568 knots and take out this year’s overall speed title.
In the women's division, Kellie Tusler of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast fought off stiff competition from the girls to become this year’s women's champion when she produced a top speed of 29.631 knots in the 5x10 second category in the 15-22 knot wind speeds. She was using a 5.8m KA Koncept and F2 missile.
The event this year was bigger and better than ever, and a huge thanks goes out to KA Sail for their ongoing fantastic support of this event.
