Here's the report....
Jean Patrick van der Wolde third during IFCA World championship Slalom
From 12th until 18th of July the IFCA World championship slalom was held on Bonaire. A lot of sun, warm waters, nice wind and a great organization was the perfect scenario for a great raceweek.

KA team Curacao was present in the youth and masterclass. Jean Patrick van der Wolde (CUR 191) with less than a year experience had to race big names in the junior league. Names like Amado van Vrieswijk, Conner Baxter and Zayne Schweitzer were his competitors in the U15 and U17 class.

Fulco de Vries and Perry van der Wolde raced in the always tough to fight masterclass.
Our local airliner Insel Air was our event sponsor and they took care of the transport of our equipment and of course ourselves. We arrived one day earlier so we had a day to get used to the winds and waters. The first two days a hard wind was blowing. The days after the wind settled down a little bit, but was still enough the race.
The first day Jean Patrick (friends call him JP) was unlucky and brook his out haul cord. The days after he surfed better and better and sometimes he even was in the first group of the “big guys” from the U17 class.
At the last raceday JP was fourth only two points away from the third spot. It was still possible. At the last raceday we had two elimination rounds and after the first round JP was now in a shared third spot. During the last round he was unbeatable and even won his final. Enough to earn the third place in the U15 class.

His KA team members Fulco de Vries and Perry van der Wolde had a lot of competition and after 10 elimination round Fulco came out on the 10th and Perry on the 9th spot.
