KA Sail Calsurf Speed Challenge 2009...

It,s over again for another year and once again KA was proud to be associated with this great event. I am sure all the competitor's would like to give a big thankyou to the event organiser Justin Boland. Here is his event wrap up....

Hi Andrew,
Thanks again for your support over the last 3 years with the Speed event. It’s really beginning to turn into one of the premier Australian Speed Events. This year we saw 34 competitors registered with guys coming from South Oz and all of the way up to Cairns. Weather resulted in 22knots which was enough to see everyone blasting with peak speeds of 38.9 knots being reached.

Winners were.

5x10 sec ; 37.569 – Vando – select casper speed fin, KA lanyard

2 sec peak; 38.892 - Vando – seabreeze sms voucher, KA hat, lanyard

NM ; 33.842 - Brad Anderson – seabreeze sms voucher, KA hat, lanyard

1 Hr ; 22.087 – Brian Hooper – KA wave boom, KA hat Lanyard

5x10 sec ladies ; 29.631 – Kellie Tusler, mfc wave fin, KA hat

Radar class ; 36 mph - Jason Clarey , boom bag, KA hat

The lucky draw KA Kult went to Lindsay Gadsby and the NXS lucky draw went to Geoff Fringe and 2 seabreeze sms vouchers were given away also.

Full results are at - http://www.ka72.com/events/burrum2009.aspx    p.s. the colums sort if you click on the headings.

We also had both channel 7 and 9 come to the event. Both did interviews with myself and 7 did an interview with kellie tusler (ka) as well as peter nitschke some others at the event. Both networks also came out to the speed bank. 7 played a 2 minute sports segment on the 6pm news. 9 also aired there’s on the 6pm news. (I have asked for some copies).

We also received coverage from the local paper. - http://www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au/story/2009/04/02/windsurfers-heaven-draws-fans/

I uploaded the photos I took at the event to seabreeze at,  http://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=49705 and also

I also edited up a video of the event, that can be found at – http://exposureroom.com/members/Gestalt.aspx/assets/429f3717ca5640db94e8bc8fa299818e/

Well that pretty much wraps it all up for this year. The final items are a feature article in Ozwindsurf zine and I believe Kelly is sending something through for the KA website.

We really had a fantastic time up there. Lots of windsurfing and parties with plenty of family in tow. Next year we have interest from New Zealand and hope to also convince some of the WA guys to come over.

Best wishes and thanks again.

Justin Boland
